Chen Jianhong received his Ph.D. in philosophy from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, in 2006. He taught philosophy at Nankai University, Tianjin, China, from 2006 to 2015, and currently is professor and chairman of the Department of Philosophy (Zhuhai) at Sun Yat-sen University. He has published, in English and in Chinese, on a variety of topics in political philosophy and religious studies, with a particular focus on Leo Strauss, Carl Schmitt, and Thomas Hobbes.  

KWAK, Jun-Hyeok

Jun-Hyeok Kwak is Professor of the Department of Philosophy (Zhuhai), Sun Yat-sen University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 2002. Before joining SYSU in 2016, he taught various universities including Korea University, Kyungpook National University, University of Bologna, and the University of Chicago. His research interests lie at the crossroads of political philosophy from Socrates to Machiavelli and contemporary sociopolitical theories. And he currently focuses on constructing reciprocal nondomination as a regulative principle that guides agonistic deliberation between peoples in conflict as well as cultures in tension, with special but not exclusive attention to classical republicans, such as Aristotle, Cicero, and Machiavelli. Currently, he is serving as the General Editor of the Routledge Series of Political Theories in East Asian Context. This series examines the essential theoretical and practical issues spanning around East Asia and provide them with cross-cultural frameworks which illuminate both the particularities of East Asia and the universality of humanity.

LU, Yi

Dr. LU Yi is now a research associate at the Department of Philosophy (Zhuhai), Sun Yat-sen University.He obtained his Ph.D. from Fudan University and finished his joint doctoral program at University Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne) from September 2015 to March 2017. His current research interests include psychoanalysis, eastern and western ethics, contemporary French philosophy, philosophy of gender and body.He is currently working on the translation and research of the original texts of Freud and Lacan.

QIN, Ji Min

Dr. Jiming QIN has recently joined the Department of Philosophy (Zhuhai) in Sun Yat-sen University as an Associate Professor. Jiming QIN holds a doctorate in philosophy from Renming University of China. Before joining the Department of Philosophy (Zhuhai), he was a lectureship Fellow as well as Post-doctoral Fellow in Sichuan University, and he has taught Research on the history of Confucian Classics. He has published several articles in many journals including Confucius Studies, the History of Chinese Philosophy, etc. And his researches are supported by China Postdoctoral Science Foundation and National Social Science Foundation. His current research interests include Confucian Classics and Traditional Chinese Political Philosophy.

SHANI, Itay

Prof. Itay Shani has recently joined the Department of Philosophy (Zhuhai). After having received his Ph.D. from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, in 2004, Prof. Shani worked as a teaching associate at Western Ontario, as well as at the University of Haifa in Israel before taking up post-doctoral positions at Wits University and the University of Johannesburg in South-Africa. Prior to joining SYSU he held the position of a research professor at Kyung Hee University in Seoul, South-Korea since 2010.

WANG, Kun

Wang Kun holds a doctorate in philosophy from Shandong University, with research experience in the University of Hawaii at Manoa of one academic year. Before joining the Department of Philosophy(Zhuhai) as associate Professor, she was a Post-doctoral Fellow at Perking University, and has got certification for this post-doctoral work experience. Dr. Wang has published articles in fine journals. Her researches are supported by China Postdoctoral Science Foundation and National Social Science Foundation. Dr. Wang's current research interests include Confucian Ethical studies, linguistic philosophy, political philosophy.

YUAN, Yongfeng

Yuan Yongfeng is an Associate Professor of the Department of Philosophy (Zhuhai campus) at Sun Yat-sen University in China. He received his Ph.D. in philosophy from Sun Yat-sen University (Guangzhou campus) in 2014. He taught mathematical and inductive logic at Nanjing University, Nanjing, China, from 2015 to 2017. Now he has published some articles in Synthese, Journal of Logic and Computation, Philosophical Trends, and Studies in Logic, etc. His current research interests include formal logic, epistemology, philosophy of consciousness, cognitive psychology, and philosophy of science.
