Report Prof.Kiichi FUJIWARA's Lecture for 13th Political Philosophy Workshop
Professor Kiichi Fujiwara presented a paper on international politics at the Department of Philosophy (Zhuhai), Sun Yat-sen University. In this paper, Professor Fujiwara tries to offer an explanation and a typology that can classify the rise of different kinds of regimes worldwide, to which he calls ‘the expansion of the electoral regime with nationalist characteristics’.
Professor Kwak as a moderator raised a few points of clarification and contextualization. Namely, Prof Kwak asked for clarification of some key concepts, explained the context of nationalism versus patriotism in East Asia. The commentator Dr Rodrigues asked similar questions about the blurred and overlapping lines between the typologies of regimes.
The audience was interested in the debate and raised questions mostly regarding the concepts used. Particularly, the main questions asked were regarding the following topics: a) clarification of the concepts of nation, b) ethnocentrism of the concepts used and c) what would be a possible alternative to the current status quo.
We thank Professor Fujiwara for his talk.
