Abstract:
Anti-Criterialism is the view that there are no informative criteria of identity over time. The theory has come under attack recently from Matt Duncan, Sydney Shoemaker and Dean Zimmerman. They claim that given anti-criterialism, our everyday judgements about identity over time cannot be justified. In this presentation, I suggest a way for anti-criterialists to meet this challenge. I also show that criterialists actually face a similar difficulty and do not have any easy way to respond.
