The dominance of Rawlsian and Habermasian political theory over the past two decades has resulted in a desire for more realistic and contextually specific political theory. In this paper, he explores three different conceptions of the 'political' from this perspective.
Prof. Duncan Ivison is currently Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research) at the University of Sydney. He has published widely and is the author of 'The Self at Liberty' (1997), 'Postcolonial Liberalism' (2002) and co-editor of 'Political Theory and the Rights of Indigenous Peoples' (2000).
