Abstract

This lecture discusses the relationship between the concept of economic efficiency and distributive justice. We first look at the concept of Pareto Efficiency commonly used in the modern economics and discuss whether it can provide a criterion for economic policy decisions; in particular, for policies regarding the distribution of wealth and income. Then, we look at the two well-known discussions in philosophy regarding distributive justice: that of John Rawls and that of Robert Nozick. Our purpose here is to see how the position of modern economics is compared with these philosophical positions

本讲探讨“经济效率”和“分配正义”两个概念。首先关注于现代经济学中常用的“帕累托效率”概念，并讨论它是否可以作为经济政策的判断标准，尤其是那些和财富及收入分配相关的经济政策。然后，聚焦于众所周知的两种分配正义哲学辩论，罗尔斯的和诺齐克的。本讲旨在理解，较之两种哲学式的立场，现代经济学的立场应当如何。
