Abstract:

Kant is widely known as a moral universalist whose moral philosophy offers a set of universally valid moral principles. In this lecture, analyzing Kant's account of action, I will argue that Kant is neither a universalist nor a relativist but a kind of contextualist.

人们通常认为康德是一个道德普遍主义者，他的道德哲学提供了一套普遍有效的道德准则。本次讲座通过分析康德关于行动的论述，试图表明康德既不是一个普遍主义者，也不是一个相对主义者，而是一种情境主义者。

Abstract:

In this lecture, introducing recent African writings on personhood and personal destiny, I will see about the different views of completing one’s life. Specifically, I introduce a version of Menkiti's stages view of typical human life and then investigate human ability to take one's life as a physically embodied emotion toward one's demise.

本次讲座通过引介最近关于非洲人看待做人和个人命运的著作，来考察人们关于如何度过一生的不同观点。具体来说，在介绍孟吉特关于典型人生的阶段理论基础上，考察人的一种能力——将自己的生命作为一种面向他人死亡的、镶嵌于己身的情感。
