Tips and Wishes!

What We Have to Do at This Juncture

- Open your mind: You have learned so many of' the second readings' (summary, lecture note, or textbook) on great classical texts. For preparing 高考,you learned about classical texts. But you might not have a chance to read them all. So you should leave aside all for a moment, and read classical texts by yourselves. This can be such a rewarding activity. If you feel a rapport or relationship to the  author, you wouldn't let others guide you to the classical texts anymore. For this please open your mind!

- Talking with your friends: As a blind man touching an elephant, we cannot know everything  in our hands. So we need other people next to us. Talk about want you read minutes ago, and discuss study  questions on the reading requirements in my class. In so doing, you come to see what ‘philosophy’ was originally meant by Greek philosophers As I said, philosophy is a combination of philia with sophia. Philia is neither like eros which passionate pursuit nor agape which signified a love without return. It referred to a play with thoughts.

How I Have been Feeling about Our Freshmen

- Thought this class, I come to see me in the past. This class carries me back to my college time. Some of you who are pretty shy of speaking English in my class make me think of myself many years ago. English was one of my problems to get me under the cold feet. But, as I said in the class, please don't be afraid of speaking English in my class It is not a problem with your language, but a problem with your spirit. If you work on catching up with my lectures, it could be very opportunity for you to make yourselves ready for broadening your knowledge through reaching out beyond language barriers.

- Through this class, I come to see me in the future. I have dream that one day one of my students in this class becomes a world leader who is working on peaceful coexistence between countries in tension. And I have a dream that every one of students can contribute their lives to promoting our society better. If these dreams come true, I will be one of the most successful teachers ever.

- I am now very proud of you all. I have very good questions in a row. I like the way they are trying to raise their questions, and I am very happy to see their passions with sincerity. To be honest, I've never had such good questions. I hope you all keep the good work.

- Life is 'AND.' Aim High! Never give up! Do Your Best!
